A Wonderful Waldo County Summer Picnic

What a day! Our WCDC Summer Picnic at Piper Stream Farm was a big success, and we’re so grateful to everyone who made it happen.

Thank You to Our Hosts and Volunteers

Huge thanks to Sue Conard for hosting us at her beautiful Piper Stream Farm, and to Jana Herbener for recruiting and wrangling the volunteers who made the whole afternoon run smoothly. Ando Anderson kept us entertained with familiar tunes on guitar and handled sound for our candidate remarks.

And thank you to everyone who brought amazing food, helped set up tents and tables, directed drivers through a genuinely complicated parking pattern, and pitched in to clean up and pack out afterward.

Many hands really did make light work.

Candidates Joined Us for the Full Afternoon

We were fortunate to rally for, and hear from, so many of our candidates:

  • Troy Jackson, U.S. Senate
  • Matt Dunlap, U.S. Congress
  • Madison Cook, HD 39
  • Mike Ray, HD 40
  • Cayla Miller, HD 38
  • Breanna Pinkham Bebb, County Commissioner (who also shared remarks on behalf of Chip Curry, SD 11, who couldn’t join us)
  • Zachary Lejonhud, HD 68
  • Pam Swift, House District 62
  • Jason Trundy, Sheriff

It was a delightful surprise that they all stayed for the full event — giving folks plenty of time for casual conversations, not just formal remarks.

A Special Recognition

WCDC Chair Paige Zeigler gave special recognition to HD 39 Representative Jan Dodge, who is serving her last term.

Jan expressed her gratitude for all of the support she’s received from her constituents over the years.

Great Weather, Great Energy

The weather cooperated too: cool and comfortable, with just a brief passing shower.

Our Coordinated Campaign field organizer Will Avart and regional organizing director Joe Grassi were thrilled with the volunteer sign-ups from the day. And a special shout-out to everyone who made a full day of it, joining the morning canvass that Troy Jackson kicked off with words of encouragement and appreciation.

Thank you as well to everyone who contributed to the donation jar — every bit helps power our work in Waldo County.
