Waldo County Dems hosted a training session April 25 by Rep. Jan Dodge designed to get more people involved with state government. The session was held at Social Capital in Belfast with 20 people attending.
Rep. Dodge is in her fourth term representing House District 39 (Belmont, Belfast, and Northport). She is a retired teacher who brings a dynamic and interactive level of engagement to her workshops, leaving everyone agreeing they learned great new skills and had a blast doing it.
The training session included:
- How to navigate maine.gov to see what bills are upcoming
- How to write a letter to the editor that people will want to read
- How to testify in Augusta, either in person or over Zoom
- Other methods for lobbying your state representatives and senators that will get their attention
Participants enjoyed pizza and beverages along with some sweet treats. If you missed this session, you can find information about advocating for legislation in Augusta here.
Many thanks for Rep. Dodge for her leadership and to Cheryl Cassidy and her Engagement Committee for organizing the session.
